Displayed is a 1934 New York Yankees and Philadelphia Athletics album page with the signatures of Hall of Famers Babe Ruth, Jimmie Foxx, and Connie Mack, plus 12 more autographs. One side of the 4.3x5.5" album page has the signatures of Yankees Ruth, Johnny Murphy, and Jimmy DeShang. In '34, the Yankees finished in 2nd place in the American League, and Ruth was in his final season with the Bronx Bombers. At age 39, he batted .288 with 22 home runs and 88 RBIs. Johnny Murphy was a spot starter and reliever who went 14-10 that year, with a 3.12 ERA. Jimmy DeShang, also a spot starter and reliever, was 6-7 that year. The Yankee signatures are all in blue fountain ink, and all are neatly written, with Ruth's signature still an outstandingly scripted autograph. On the back of the album page is a group of 12 signatures of the 1934 Philadelphia Athletics, who finished that season in 5th place in the AL. The signatures are mostly in blue fountain ink, with a few in either dark blue or black fountain ink. Jimmie Foxx signed a bold, neat signature. The slugger known for his prodigious batting strength as "the Beast," Foxx finished his stellar career with 534 home runs. Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack, who managed the Philadelphia Athletics for 50 consecutive seasons (1901-50), signed a neatly crafted autograph. Also signing for the Athletics: star center fielder Doc Cramer. Plus, Bing Miller, (2) Roy Mahaffey, Bill Dietrich, Rabbit Warstler, Bob Johnson, Eric McNair and Pinky Higgins. The signatures of Foxx, Mack, and Cramer are dark, but some of the other autographs are legible, but light. The album page has a few spots of light crinkling and some areas showing some darkening, mostly along the edges, the page is in overall very good condition.
